Livin' Large Day 26 Devotion

“Livin’ Large is experiencing the new life we have in Christ. It is living the Christian life in the power of the Holy Spirit and it is practicing (Ephesians 4-6) our position (Ephesians 1-3).”
Ephesians 5:15-17
15 Therefore be careful how you live, not as unwise men but as wise, 16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil. 17 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
We are to be careful how we live. The Christian life is not haphazard, without focus or devoid of purpose. Instead, the Christian life is an intentional pursuit of Christ and an obedient response to Gospel transformation. The Christian life, what Paul describes as Livin’ Large, is a life that is to be lived wisely. We are to walk in God’s wisdom. We are to seek after and apply God’s wisdom to daily life.
Proverbs 9:10 states, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Living wisely implies that we are in a right relationship with God. We have received God’s grace, believed in the gospel and have begun to follow Jesus as the Lord of our lives. This means, among other things, that we make the most of our time and we understand the will of the Lord. We see life as a gift from God and we see ourselves as stewards. We embrace the opportunities that God gives us to glorify Him, stand for His truth and proclaim His salvation. We realize that the issue before us is not that our will be done but that God’s will be done. Living wisely means that every day we are seeking where God is at work and our response is to join Him as His servants. Living wisely is Livin’ Large!
Take a moment to read over Ephesians 5:15-17 and Proverbs 9:10. Ask God to give you His wisdom. Surrender to the Lord anything that would be a hindrance or obstacle to seeking and serving Him in your life. Ask God to show you the opportunities He has for you today and this week and commit yourself to doing His will. Remember, when we live in God’s wisdom, we are Livin’ Large!
