Doing greater things through prayer

The Promise of Prayer
John 14:12-14
12 “I assure you: The one who believes in Me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in My name, I will do it so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.
Jesus promised greater works in response to our prayers. We have the promise of Jesus that God do whatever we ask in Jesus name. God’s answers to our prayers are the greater works that Jesus promised.
The Practice of Prayer
Jeremiah 29:12-13
12 You will call to Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
Our practice in prayer is to seek the Lord. He is the One who saves, redeems, provides and answers. We are to seek Him with all our hearts.
The Prayer
Ephesians 3:14-21
14 For this reason I kneel before the Father 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. 16 I pray that He may grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power in the inner man through His Spirit, 17 and that the Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love, 19 and to know Christ’s love that surpasses knowledge, so you may be filled with all the fullness of God.20 Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us— 21 to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
This inspired prayer serves as a guide for what we should be praying for ourselves and others. God is concerned about everything in our lives, but what He is preeminently concerned about is that we know Christ, be filled up with Christ and be transformed by Christ.
Ask God that you, your family and Christ’s Church might:
1. Be strengthened with the power of the Holy Spirit
2. Experience the indwelling of Christ in our hearts through faith
3. Be rooted and established in love
4. Be able to comprehend and know the love Christ has for us
5. Be filled up to fullness of God
As we pray, based on Christ’s promise, according to Scriptural practice, praying inspired prayers, we can confidently expect God to hear, answer and do greater works!
1 John 5:14-15
14 Now this is the confidence we have before Him: Whenever we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked Him for.
