“Livin’ Large is experiencing the new life we have in Christ. It is living the Christian life in the power of the Holy Spirit and it is practicing (Ephesians 4-6) our position (Ephesians 1-3).”
Matthew 5:16
16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Christ is the light of the world. To be a Christ follower means that we have Christ in us and that we are in Christ. Because of our union with Christ, we are the light of the world. Jesus exhorts us to let our light shine. We let our light shine when we live consistently with who we are. Our good works, the fruit of our union and relationship with Christ, reflect Jesus so that God gets the glory. This life of reflecting Christ by living in the light is Livin’ Large. This is our calling as Christ followers. Christ’s light enlightens us and we shine forth His light to others.
Living in the light involves both the receiving and the reflecting of Christ’s light. How are you doing at receiving Christ’s light? Are you seeking and finding Christ? Are you experiencing His inner transformation? Are you abiding in Christ? Before we can reflect the light we must first receive the light.
Do others see the light of Christ in you? Are your good works real and authentic representations of Christ? Do your words and actions point people to Jesus? Reflecting Christ is the call of every Christian. Since we are the light of the world, Jesus commands us to let our light shine. With this clear command of Jesus, let’s make sure we have a new bulb that we’re plugged in and that the light is turned on!
