“Livin’ Large is experiencing the new life we have in Christ. It is living the Christian life in the power of the Holy Spirit and it is practicing (Ephesians 4-6) our position (Ephesians 1-3).”
John 13:34-35
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
In this teaching Jesus gives us one of the key qualifications for being His disciple. Disciples of Jesus love one another. Disciples of Jesus love one another the same way Jesus loves us. Our love for one another is the confirmation and proof to the world that we are truly disciples of Jesus. Like most of Jesus’ commands, this is easier said than done! We are called to live a supernatural life where we demonstrate supernatural love. That’s Livin’ Large! Once again we see that to live a new life in Christ we must draw upon Christ Himself as the only One who can supply the resources we need. Our lives must be saturated with and fully influenced by Christ’s love before we can demonstrate that love for one another. As John put it in 1 John 4:7-11,
7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
God loves us and demonstrated that love through the substitutionary sacrifice of His Son. God’s love is in us and we can draw upon that love and love one another. When we live in love we are Livin’ Large.
Thank God for His love for you in Christ. Thank Him that in Christ your sins are forgiven and you are completely secure in Him. Ask God to fill you with His love. Pray for your brothers and sisters in Christ and ask God to use you to show them Christ’s love. Look for opportunities to be Livin’ Large, loving one another with Christ’s live. Remember, as you do, all people will know that you are Christ’s disciple!
