“Livin’ Large is experiencing the new life we have in Christ. It is living the Christian life in the power of the Holy Spirit and it is practicing (Ephesians 4-6) our position (Ephesians 1-3).”
Ephesians 5:5-14
5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a man is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. 7 Therefore do not be partners with them.
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, 14 for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said:
“Wake up, O sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
Livin’ in the Light means that we come out of the darkness and bask in the sunshine of Jesus Christ. He is the Light. In Him we are the light. Outside of Him we are in the darkness. This metaphor for light and darkness is another way of describing the deeds of the flesh versus the fruit of the Spirit. When Christ is shining on us and we are in His light, He changes us and produces the fruit of the light in us. When we step out of His light, the darkness of our own flesh rears its ugly head. As followers of Jesus Christ we have a wonderful choice; we can live in the light of Christ and be His light to others. That is Livin’ Large!
Let’s ask God to shine His light on our thoughts, motives and actions. Let’s repent of any darkness and receive the pure light of Jesus Christ flooding our lives. Today let’s invite Christ to live fully in us and through us so that our light might shine before men and others will see Christ in us.
