“Livin’ Large is experiencing the new life we have in Christ. It is living the Christian life in the power of the Holy Spirit and it is practicing (Ephesians 4-6) our position (Ephesians 1-3).”
Romans 12:1-2
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Livin’ Large means that we live differently from the world. According to Romans 12:1-2, that will include three responses on our part: present our bodies to God, stop being conformed to the world and be transformed by the renewal of our minds. The first response is an act of spiritual worship. Based on all that God has done for us, we are to present our whole selves to God as a living sacrifice. The second response is a decisive act to make a clean break with the world and its conforming desires and values. We must literally stop the process of being squeezed into the world’s mold. The third response is one of ongoing action. We are to be continually transformed as we are engaged in a process of mind renewal. This will result in being able to test, discern and approve the will of God for our lives. These actions, described in Romans 12:1-2, are the lifestyle of the Christian who is living differently. This is Livin’ Large!
If you have not done so already, take a moment to prayerfully surrender your whole life to God. Think through every aspect of body-soul and spirit and acknowledge to God that you are completely His, at His disposal, surrendered to His glory. Next, ask the Holy Spirit to show you any areas of your life that are still being conformed to the world. Confess those things to God repent and ask for the power of the Holy Spirit to change. Lastly, commit yourself to the daily habit of spending time with God in His Word. God’s Word changes the way we think and renews our minds. Begin the discipline of Scripture memory and ask God to give you His thoughts, His perspective and the knowledge of His will.
These actions are part of our new life in Christ. They are living differently which is Livin’ Large!
